Perhaps our Anchorage friends would care to create a complimentary protest?

Many are likely already aware that there are plans to make the USA
PATRIOT ACT permanent, and the various votes necessary to achieve
this may occur as early as this coming week.
There will be a gathering in support of the Bill of Rights and in
opposition to the USA PATRIOT ACT and other
constitutionally-challenged and unjust actions by our Congress,
Administration, and State and local governments.
The gathering will occur at 2:00 P.M. at the park strip between 7th
and 8th Avenues, off of Cushman Street, on Saturday December 17th,
2005. Ideally, the gathering will run until approximately 4:30 or
5:00 P.M.
All persons, regardless of political party affiliations, are
requested to attend; even if only briefly.
Each person obviously has the ability and right to make such a
gathering represent whatever they wish it to. For some, it's a
celebration of the Bill of Rights (Bill of Rights Day is Thursday,
December 15, 2005). For others it's a moment of
remorse, remembrance or loss for those rights chipped and
hammered away over time, resulting from 'the best of intentions' of
those without proper or meaningful boundaries for others' rights to
justice and self-determination.
Please make a point of attending, and consider making a sign that
represents your sentiments. You may also wish to take a moment to
voice what the Bill of Rights represents to you in speaking to what
ever group of persons is present.
Please pass this around to those who might consider attending.
